PHOTOGRAPHY – FILMING
Amateur photography and filming
Amateur photography and filming for personal use is permitted at the Museum premises without the use of flash or additional professional equipment. This permission does not authorize the publication of these photographs and films in any form (printed or electronic), in audiovisual products or on the internet. For this, it is necessary to complete the relevant application form (see below forms no 1, 2 or 3) and email it to the Museum (email address: amh@culture.gr). Taking selfies is permitted, as long as this does not obstruct the rest of the visitors of the Museum.
Providing professional images
The Museum possesses high-resolution images of objects that belong to its collections and of its premises, which can be provided for reproduction in printed and electronic publications, in audiovisual products or on the internet. It is necessary to complete the relevant application form (see below forms no 1, 2 or 3) and email it to the Museum (email address: amh@culture.gr).
The Museum provides the images and the permission for their use only for the purpose described in the official permit issued. Modification of the images in any way is not permitted. The Museum retains the copyright of the depictions of the objects that belong to its collections, therefore, a permit issued by the Museum is required, even when the depictions derive from another source, that must initially have acquired the images legally and without having any financial benefit from this interaction. The copyright for the use of the images must be stated as follows: © Archaeological Museum of Heraklion / Hellenic Ministry of Culture / HOCRED. In order for the Museum to provide depictions and the permission for their use, the fees that will be set in the official permit must be paid. The Museum reserves the right to refuse to grant permission to provide photographic material that falls within its jurisdiction.
Professional Photography
Professional photography at the Museum premises is permitted only after a permit has been issued and the set fees have been paid. Interested parties must complete the relevant application (see below form no 4) and email it to the Museum (email address: amh@culture.gr), at least one month before the proposed date of the relevant works. The Museum reserves the right to refuse to grant permission for professional photography to take place at its premises.
